Tissington Trail

The Tissington Trail is an old railway line that runs for 13 traffic-free miles through the countryside from Ashbourne to Parsley Hay, where it is joins the High Peak Junction. You can walk or cycle, and cycle hire is available at the start of the trail at the Ashbourne Cycle Hire Centre.

Dovedale & Thorpe Cloud

Dovedale is known for the River Dove, its impressive limestone ravines and the picturesque stepping stones. You can also walk up Thorpe Cloud from here, an isolated reef knoll with an elevation of 287m and great views over Derbyshire and Staffordshire.

Harboro' Rocks

Just outside the village of Brassington, Harboro' Rocks is an outcrop of Dolomite stone that is great for climbing and walking, with excellent views across Carsington Reservoir and the Derbyshire countryside from the top. You can also explore the old cave that was still inhabited by a family of seven in the 18th century.
